| MANER PRIESTER |
The MANERS and their close relatives the LAWTONS came to Allendale Co
around 1850 or before. My great grandfather Samuel Perry Maner and
his wife Mary Ann Lawton owned many acres between Allendale and Barton before
and during the Civil War. Some of his land is still in the family and is
occupied by my Aunt Agnes King Maner Brown. Lawton Acres and Maner
Dr. are named for the family Also at least 10 bricks around the newly renovated
courthouse testify to the family's years in the county. The Priester
family came to the county no later than 1829. My great grandfather
Elijah Cornelius Priester and his wife Indiana S. Riley raised 11 children
in the county. He owned land part of which is near Christiana Estates.
Descendants of thses families still living in Allendale are King Maner
Brown, Samuel Rice, Catherine Tharin, Maner Terry, Joh Rice. 24 Aug. 2004 |

Looking for information on Jasper N. McMillan and Mary Ann Warren. Jasper's
parents were Joel McMillan and Mary Lane. He was the grandson of James McMillan
and Martha "Patty" Sandifer of the old Barnwell District, S.C. Mary
Lane McMillan was sister of my great-grandmother Martha Ella Lane Valentine
of Orangeburg Co., S.C. Jasper and his wife Mary Ann were living in
the Sycamore Township, P.O. Allendale, S.C. when the 1870 census was taken.
Children listed from census and information sent me by a descendant.
(1) Richard Frank McMillan, b. 27 December 1860, d. 23 January 1911.
He was probably known as Frank McMillan. (2) William McMillan was listed
on a Barnwell Co., S.C. census as Benjamin A. H. W. McMillan. He may have
been named Benjamin A. Henry William McMillan. (3) Joel McMillan was probably
named after his grandfather. (4) Mary M. McMillan could have been named after
her grandmother (5) Ernestine Delilah McMillan, known as "Tiney", m. Joshua
Lott. Some information on this family furnished to me by
