Samuel Edwin ONeal, grandson of Hugh ONeall?

I am trying to find a connection between Samuel Edwin ONeal (d. 1847 in Fairfax, SC) and Hugh ONeall, from Ireland

I have seen in two publications, Histories of Decatur and Seminole Counties, Georgia that Samuel E. ONeal is the grandson of Hugh ONeall (Samuel being the son of William ONeall (of Newberry County SC), son of Hugh ONeall). Can anyone verify this or disprove this connection for mem?

I have Samuel Edwin ONeal having married Charlotte Riley and having the following children:

1. Parker ONeal, d. 1846/47 in Mexican War
2. Thomas Miles ONeal, d. 1862
3. James T. ONeal
4. William Owen ONeal (b. 1809 in SC, d. 1872 in Seminole County GA) married Elizabeth Neel, daughter of Daniel Odum Neel and Sabra Odum
5. Samuel ONeal, d 1853
6. John ONeal
7. Nancy ONeal
8. Judith ONeal, m. Joseph Creech
9. Elizabeth ONeal, m. Samuel Dodd
10. Mary Jane ONeal, m. Samuel Gibson
