Roselawn was built by Rev. Joseph Alexander Lawton c1835. Roselawn was confiscated and used as a headquarters by Gen. Kilpatrick's Cavalry (U.S.A.) during the invasion of Sherman's hordes, while the Rev. and Mrs. Lawton were forced to occupy a small room in the rear. According to lore, the house was not abused by Sherman's army.
