Benton Co., AL was renamed to Calhoun Co. sometime in the 1850s and contains the city of Anniston, Ft. McClellan and Redstone Arsenal.
Leonard Gill born 1780-1790 (from 1840 census) died c1846 (1841?), married to Zenna, Zaner, Zaney, or perhaps Janey?, who was born c1804 in SC. His widow, Zenna or Zaner married second to Samual Thompson. Greg Nabors' information on this family. Leonard Gill appears in a record in Lunenburg Co., VA. This marriage record places Leonard Gill in Lunenburg Co., VA in 1821, and in SC in 1837, when Julia A. Gill was born. He removed to Benton Co., AL c1838, and died in Benton Co., AL c1841.
My bets are that Zenna, Zaner, Zaney, or Janey born c1804 in SC was a second wife, and that she is not the mother of the first three. She probably is the mother of Able, Julia A., James, and Isopheny only.
