Bryan County is immediately to the west of Savannah (Chatham Co.) and includes a teeny stretch of coastline.
It is not obvious to me just where this Valentine fits. He is not a son of old Valentine Gill and Richard did not use this name, nor any other branches of the family to my knowledge. This man must be a grandson of old Valentine. He could be a son of Valentine's son, John Gill born 1784-94, married Martha, although Hannah only mentions John's son John in her deed of 1809. He is not a son of James Madison Gill c1798-c1873. It would not seem possible that he could be a son of Valentine's son Valentine born c1800 married Judy (or Indy), although I will check the earlier censuses to see if this is feasible. People did sometimes marry by age 13. I am a bit mystified by this Valentine. Anyone have clues?
