I am seeking information about J. F. KEARSE, Sr. He is buried
at the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Crocketville, along with his wife Mary
GOODING and children James Franklin, Medicus Holbrook, and May who had apparently
married a YOUMANS. J. F. Kearse was born 21 February 1838 and died 7 January
1923. I would like to know the names of his parents. It is possible that
Elizabeth KEARSE, born 22 January 1804, died 22 October 1885 is his mother.
Her grave is located in the Gooding Cemetery. Any help appreciated.

| KERSH
KEARSE |
Searching for info on the Kersh family. My grandfather was
Anderson Walter Kearse, but he changed his last name to Kearse from Kersh.
My great-grandfather was James Walter Kersh (1856-1981), and his father was
James M. Kersh (no dates available). Does anyone have any info on this Kersh
family? I suppose I'll never know the reason why my grandfather changed his
last name when he was young. (1/4/00 9:05:49

| KING |
I have a letter written from Hampton Ct. by S.L. King dtd. Nov. 13, 1898.
This is Sampson King aka Samuel L. King. His sons were Richard, Clifford
& Harry. Wife Anna Tommins was deceased at this time. The letter was
most likely written near Yemassee, SC. He mentions a woman with surname Heape.
I found the Heape Store while visiting Yemassee in 1990s. The King family
lived in Augusta for a period of time & Sampson, Anna & son Harry
are buried at Magnolia Cem. there. Sampson was a Confederate veteran. I have
a brief record of his service; he changed his name after the war. Son Richard
married Ella Smith; Clifford married Annie Rachel Cook, dau. of A.G. &
Darkus Cook, both buried at Mt. Olive Bapt. Ch. Cem., Yemassee. I wld be
interested in queries related to these families. 27 Sept. 2003 |
