Will of Deborah S. Williams Dove-Baker


In the name of God Amen-I Deborah S. Baker of Darlington District in the State of South Carolina, being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. That is to say, First after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my estate real and personal I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows, to wit: To my Brother D. J. Williams the note I hold amounting in all to twenty six hundred and Twenty three/ 2623 Dollars I wish divided as follows-
To my sister E. C. Ferguson the sum of Eight hundred and Eighty 75/100 Dollars:
to my nephew J. W. Ferguson the sum of Eight hundred and Eighty 75/100 Dollars:
to my niece M. D. Chambers the sum of Four hundred Eighty 75/100 Dollars
-if any of the notes making up the above amount should prove Worthless each party to sustain their proportionate share of the loss, I give, bequeath and devise all the rest residue and remainder if any of my real and personal Estate to the four last named in like proportions as above.

Likewise I make constitute and appoint my Nephew J. W. Ferguson to be Executor of this my last will & Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have here unto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 18th Eighteenth day, of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty Eight

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Deborah S. Baker in our presence and acknowledged by her to each of us, and she at the same time published and declared the above instrument or subscribed to be her last will and Testament and we at her request and in her presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto.

Williams and after being duly sworn made oath that he was present and did see the within named Testatrix sign seal publish and declare the within writing as and for her last will and testament and that she was at the same time of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding as this diplomat both believe and here together with Ja.. A. Williams and Chas E. Williams witnessed the due execution of the same at the same time in the presence of each other and in the presence of the testatrix. Sworn to before me
