QRYTEXT:

John KIDD, married (2) Sarah "Sally" Sheppard RUFFIN in Darlington County ca. 1826-8. John KIDD was born in Chatham County, NC in 1799 to Moses and Cary POWERS KIDD. Sometime around 1818, John KIDD married ? in Chatham County.

I think that the last name of John's first wife was GILLIAM, since that was the name of their first child, my gg grandfather, born in 1819, also in Chatham County, NC. John' whereabouts from 1818 until 1826-8 are unknown, but I think he was in Darlington County during part of that time. Shortly after John KIDD married Sarah RUFFIN, daughter of Stephen and Rachel RUFFIN, they moved to Georgia.

John KIDD's sister, Susannah KIDD, had married James HOOTEN of Darlington County about 1816-8, and presumably was living in Darlington somewhere. Around 1826, James and Susannah HOOTEN and family left South Carolina and moved to Henry County, Georgia. I believe that John KIDD once again followed his sister and her family, this time to Georgia. My guess is that John KIDD may have also met his second wife, Sarah RUFFIN, with the help of his sister,Susannah.

Most of the above data on people and dates is factual. However, what is missing are places where the events took place. Also missing is an answer to the important question, "What happened to John KIDD's first wife, whoever she was?" Did she die in Darlington County? Is she buried somewhere in Darlington County?
