Need help in finding information on the COOPER family from Timmonsville and Maysville. I have info on my grandmother, Lillian and her side of the family, but not much about my grandfather, Thomas S. COOPER. She was the daughter of Emma and Bill SMITH Jr. (Emma died in 1904 ,that's all I know of her). Bill Jr. was the son of Mary Elizabeth SCAFFE and Bill SMITH who died 1869. Mary remarried to a R. WALKER ,who died 1888 and then again to a Mr. McLEOD who died in 1911. Her parents were Polly SIMS and James SCAFFE of Maysville. I have nothing other than a memory of Sociey Hill and talk of possible Cherokee ancestry on Thomas COOPER's side. Feb 1997

CRAFT
James H. Craft, Sr
jhcsr@bellsouth.net
CRAFT, John? m. Rachel, abt 1780 and lived in Cheraw-Darlington District (Sparrow Swamp on Black Creek) from that time to abt 1820. I believe John? died bef 1798, because later references to family (1799>) mention 'widow Rachel Craft' in land sales and owning adjacent land in other sales. GGGGf Thomas Craft b1786 lived near her then, and again in Monroe Co, TN in 1830. I have all info on his decendants. He was a member of the Black Creek Militia 1813-16, and his wife, Temperance joined Black Creek Baptist Church in 1818. Any info on parents and marriage of John and Rachel would be of great help.

Thanks to our new DUTTON family group on the net, we have found that Samuel Sneed DUTTON (b. ca. 1797 in Anson County NC) is a son of Zachariah DUTTON (proven by will). Now we are in pursuit of proof as to who Zachariah DUTTON's father is.
Samuel Sneed DUTTON's son, Edward H. DUTTON (b. 1843) and his grandson Edward Ivy "Bud" DUTTON (b December 17, 1884) lived in Darlington County SC.
