A Young Man Drowns
"Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy" was an admonishment to man,
forgetting this has often brought death and destruction to many who disregarded
it.
On last Sunday afternoon, Dock Herring, 19 years old, who lives in Latta,
was on a visit at Campbells Bridge, and he with his brother and other friends
took a swim in the Little Pee Dee. Dock swam across and on his return sank,
his brother going to his rescue came near being drowned, but his effort to rise
was in vain, Dock sank to rise no more, two hours later his body was found and
the day following his earthly remains where (supposed to be were?) placed in
the bosom of old mother earth.
