Mrs Tom Herring
Mrs Tom Herring, aged 23, died Saturday at a Mullins Hospital.
Several days before her death, Mrs Herring was bitten by a poisonous
insect of an unknown type and in a few hours, her condition became alarming.
Mrs. Herring was the former Retha Tucker, and before her marriage to Mr
Herring, was a valued employee at the Herald Office, where she was highly
esteemed by employees and employers for her quiet and charming manners and
strict devotion to duty.
Funeral services were held from the home of her parents Sunday afternoon
at 6:30., Ref Frank Lyon of the Dillon Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Tom Herring; her parents, Mr & Mrs D R Tucker
of Floydale; six sisters, Mrs S W Britt of Fork. Mrs Aaron Tucker of Society
Hill, Mrs Levi Hyatt and Miss Irene Tucker of Dillon, Misses Janie and Elthea
Tucker of Danville, Va; and one brother, Lacy Tucker of Dillon. Pallbearers
were Sandy Tucker, Sam Tucker, J W Herring, Joe McDonald, Alva Hamilton, and
George Hardee.
