Two-Cycle Wreck Kills Dillon Boy
Dillon---a Dillon boy was killed here Saturday in a head-on collision between a mini-bike and motorbike.
Dillon Coroner R J Rogers said Michael Lee Herring, 11, died of internal injuries when he was traveling on a county dirt road about eight miles east of Dillon on his minibike. He was rounding a curve when a motorbike driven by Michael Jessie Miller, 13, hit him head-on.
Miller received minor injuries and was released from St Eugene Community Hospital.
The accident is still under investigation and no inquest is planned at this time, Rogers said.
A son of Mr and Mrs Woodrow Herring, he was a 4th grade student at Lake View Elementary School.
Services will be today at 3pm in Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Surviving are his parents.
