Dillon Businessman J D Herring Dies
Dillon---Joseph Dewey Herring, 55, owner of Joe Herring Furniture Mart, died Thursday at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Dillon County, a son of the late Talmadge Blanton and Minnie Hyatt Herring. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Grace Alford herring; two foster sons, Jim M Herring of Dillon and Bobby K Herring of Elizabeth City, NC.; three brothers, Willie S and T B Herring, Jr. of Dillon and Mack J Herring of Florence; three sisters, Mrs Hazel H Jackson of Wilmington, NC., Mrs Frances H Price of Floydale, and Mrs Beatrice H Taylor of Latta.
Services will be 3:30 pm today in the Blanton-Cottingham Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
