J. Caldwell Gaddy
DILLON (--) Services for J. Caldwell Gaddy, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday,
April 15, 2001, at Main Street United Methodist Church with burial in Riverside
Cemetery directed by Kannaday's Funeral Home in Dillon. The family will receive
friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Main
Street United Methodist Church, 401 E. Main Street, Dillon, SC 29536, or to the
Dillon Rescue Squad, 209 S. 8th Ave., Dillon, SC 29536.
Mr. Gaddy died Friday, April 13, 2001, in McLeod Regional Medical Center in
Florence. Born September 2, 1922, in Dillon, he was a son of the late J. Roy and
Edith Curtis Gaddy. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and an
Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Gaddy was a retired farmer and was also retired
from the Post Office after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Masons,
Blue Lodge #142 in Gaddy's Mill. He served on the Dillon County D.S.S. Board and
the Committee on Restoration of the Dillon County Courthouse. He was past
secretary-treasurer and board member of Avalon Academy, past president of the
Dillon County Farm Bureau, and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Gaddy of Dillon; son, Dr. McKeithan "Mac" R. Gaddy
of Dillon; daughters, Mrs. Wallace G. (Sarah Edith) Turbeville of Hartsville,
Ms. Dixie C. Gaddy of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashley S. Gaddy of Dillon, William
Gaddy Turbeville of Hartsville. Mr. Gaddy was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah
Rogers Gaddy, and a brother, Dr. George D. Gaddy of Burlington, N.C.
