Retired Teacher, Mrs Wideman, Dies.
Marion---Mrs Annie Lewis Wideman, widow of Robert H Wideman and a retired
school teacher, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Born in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Allen C and Elizabeth
Smith Lewis. She attended Coker College, was a graduate of Winthrop College, and did
graduate work at the University of South Carolina.
She taught in the Aynor and Centenary public schools. She was on the board of
trustees, and was principal for 35 years. She also taught at Easterling Elementary School
until retirement in 1966.
She was a past president of the Marion County Education Association and the
Marion County Club of Women. She served on the Stand Tall Committee for Marion
She was a life-trustee of Shiloh Methodist Church, and taught the Ladies Bible
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:30pm Monday at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, with burial in
Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests that those who wish may make memorials to the Shiloh
Methodist Church or the charity of their choice.
