WILL OF
THOMAS BURKETT
In the name of god amen I Thomas Burkett of State of South
carolina Marion district being weak in body but of Sound
disposing mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last
will and Testament in manner and form following. first my will
and desire is that all my Just and lawfull debts be paid, then
I leave unto my beloved wife, Sarah, during her natural life all
my whole Estate, whatsoever it may consist of. at her death, I
give unto my mother Elisabeth Burkett one nego woman named
Rose during my mothers life, my will and desire is that all my
whole Estate at the death of my said wife, except the negro
woman Rose, be equally divided between my Brothers and Sifter,
and my wifes Children, and at my mothers death Said negro wo-
man Rose to be Sold and the money Equally divided between my
Said Brothers and sister, and my wifes Children, I constitute
my Brother levi Burkett and Hector McNeill my whole and Sole
Executors of this my last will and testament Revoking all for-
mer will by me made given under my hand and Seal this Seventh
day of Deccember one thousand Eight hundred and twenty three
Signed Sealed and declared Thos. Burkett (SEAL)
by the testator to be his
