Petition of John J.
Bethea admr of estate sheweth that her personal estate is nothing, that her
debts are cosiderable about $275.00 and that he has no means of paying except
from proceeds of sale of her real estate. Prays for permission to sell. 1
March 1862. Adm. Bond dated 26 January 1859 $1000. Bondsmen: J. J. Bethea, T.
W. Godbold and R. P. Stewart. Witness: J. R. Lewis. Warrant of Appraisement
26 January 1859. Appraisers sworn 3 Sept 1859 before W. W. Sellers, magst.
E.S. Stackhouse, Wesley Stackhouse and Aaron Proctor. Appraisers could find
nothing to appraise. 27 Jany 1860. Dr. J. J. Bethea shows that Martha Jackson
died intestate and as greatest creditor he is desirous of taking out letters
of Adm. 4 Oct 1858. In the Court of Ordinary. J. J. Bethea, admr of Martha
Jackson applicant vs W. T. Jackson and wife and Others defendants. Ordered
pro confesso against the legal heirs of Robert Jackson 20 April 1863. Asa
Godbold, Ordinary. To William T. Jackson and wife Harriet, William Jackson
and wife, Nancy Hamilton, Hugh Price and wife Sarah, Lucinda McKenzie,
William Hamilton, Elizabeth Jackson, Dilly Jackson and E. Jackson heirs at
law of Martha Jackson decd. Petition of Ervin M Jackson sheweth that his
sister Martha Jackson died intestate seized and possessed at the time of her
death a certain tract of land 163 acres leaving as her heirs at law your
petitioner, the children of Robert Jackson decd, William T. Jackson and wife
Harriet, William Jackson, Saml. Jackson, William Hamilton and wife Nancy,
James McKenzie and wife Lucinda, Hugh Price and wife Sarah Ann, Elizabeth
Jackson and Dilly Jackson (the mother) that your petitioner prays for sale
and division among heirs. 22 Feby 1858. Claims against the estate: E. B.
Wheeler, Ordy, John Douglass, V. Little, J. W. Dillon acct, Dr. J. J. Bethea
acct, Elizabeth Jackson acct and W. W. Sellers, atty. Total $253.05. 163
acres joining lands of Hugh Price, Elizabeth Jackson and lands of !ate Ann
Jackson. Heirs of Robert Jackson in the West: Harriet, W.T. Jackson and Saml
Jackson. William Jackson in Marion. Cambell Bridge. Nov.18, 1862. To Asa
Godbold from Ervin M. Jackson. Pay the whole amount of his distributive share
of estate of Martha Jackson decd to William Rogers. Witness: John A. Breeden.
From Sam'l Jackson: same to William Rogers. James R. McKenzie and wife
Lucinda McKenzie for $60.00 in hand quit claim, sell and convey unto Williiam
Hyatt interest in estate of Martha Jackson. 25 April 186l. Witnesses: E. M.
Jackson and H. H. Jackson.
