Francis Miles Deed to William Brown 1808 Marlborough District, SC Conveyance Book G-1, page155, 156 [Top of document is a plat map of resurvey of Francis Miles land.] By request of Francis Miles I have resurveyed and Admeasured the above Tract of Land and fixed it to Contain 256 acres and hath such Shape form and marks as the above Plat represents Resurveyed this 5th day of January 1808 Joseph Gourly D.S. STATE SO CAROLINA ) MARLBOROUGH DISTRICT) Know all men by these presents that I Francis Miles of the State and District aforesd for and in Consideration of the Sum of Six hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by William Brown of the State and District aforesd have granted bargained Sold & released and by these presents do grant bargain Sell and release unto the Said William Brown a Certain Quantity of Land (Viz) two hundred and fifty six acres the same being part of a Tract of 460 acres of Land granted to William Brown by his Excellency Wm Moultrie Esqr Govr &c the 1 day of January 1787 Also part of Two hundred Acres Conveyed from Thos Hodges to the Sd Brown also fifty Acres granted to John Brown decd by his Excellency Alexr Gordon the grant bearing date June 20th 1754 and the 50 acres de____ to Samuel Brown son of John Brown and from Said Samuel Brown to Wm Brown and was conveyed from Sd Wm Brown to Sd Francis Miles and from Sd Miles back to the Sd Wm Brown Also sd Francis Miles agrees to give Wm Brown his heirs & afsigns the priviledge of flowing water on my Land as high as to raise a good head of water at his old Mill on Sd Land. Together with all and Singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the Sd premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining To have and to hold and Signular the primiesis before mentioned unto the said Wm Brown his heirs & afsigns forever And I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors And Administrators to Warrant and forever defend all and Singular the premises before mentioned unto the said William Brown his heirs and Afsigns against Myself and my heirs and against every person or persons Whomsoever Lawfully Claming or to Claim the Same or any part thereof ~ WITNESS my hand and Seal this Seventh day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Eight and in the 32d year of the Independency of the United States of America Signed Sealed & Delivered) In the presence of ) francis Miles (Seal) [signed w/signature and small "f"] Henry Hodges [signed w/signature] John Brown [signed w/signature] STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA) MARLBOROUGH DISTRICT ) Personally appeared Henry Hodges before me William Whitefield one of the Justices of the Quorum afsigned to keep the peace in Said District Who being duly Sworn on the holy Evangelist and Sayeth that he saw francis Miles Sign Seal and deliver the within Instrument of writing to William Brown for the use and purpose within mentioned and that he also Saw John Brown Subscribe his name as another Witness at the same time with himself Sworn to before me this 12 day of January 1808 William Whitefield JQ Henry Hodges
