WILL OF DRURY ROBERTSON SOUTH CAROLINA I Drury Robertson of Marlboro District do make and ordain this my last will & Testament---------- First.- I will and desire that all my Just debts shall be paid- With a view to effect this object I wish all the alive property such as Slaves Horses & Mules Plantation utensils may be employed in Sawing & Planting etc, in such manner as my Executrix & Executors may Judge best & the nett proceeds after retaining therefrom Sufficient for the Comfortable Support of my loving Wife & Mary C. Robertson my loving Daughter; I wish applied to the payment of the debts, this being fully effected, I wish a division of my Estate to take place. First, I give & Bequeath unto my loving Wife Mary, my Carriage, Harnefs, & two Horses, Monitor & Dolan---------- I lend unto my loving Wife during the term of her natural life the Lands, Mill & Improvements on the Plantation whereon I now live including the Hodge Plan & a sufficient land on both sides Naked Creek for the purposes wanted household & Kitchen furniture three beds excepted, which I wish with suitable furniture & any other articles my loving wife may find it convenient to spare with I give to my Daughter Mary Caroline to be delivered her whenever she may marry, also Twenty Negro Slaves Including among them Stephen, Carolina, Tom & Charles & any others of her choice for house or yard servants, work horses Mules Waggon Gear Plantation Tools, Cattle, Hogs, Sheep & etc, with the increase of the Slaves. I give & Bequeath unto my loving daughter Ann E. Elerbe the Lands whereon Capt. Elerbe now lives, beginning at the Still House gate on the landing road thence as the road runs past the Still House to an old gate going to Mr. Elerbes, thence east line to be run to the run of Naked Creek thence down to Major Pledgers Landthence on his line Mr. Elerbe's and Nr. Bedgegood to the beginning, including all my claim to the Still House, Still, WILL OF DRURY ROBERTSON PAGE 2 Heads & every other articles thereunto belonging, also a sett of pump augurs, the use of the water from spring hill etc. One other tract of land known by my beauty spot land Containing Eleven Hundred Twenty five acres-one other Large body of Land situate on both sides of Naked Creek Beaverdam & Phil's Creek, Including the Middle Mill & Upper Mill with all the improvements thereon, this Body of Land to include all the land I pofsefs or entitled to Lying North of a line to be drawn or run East & West to cross a sand ridge near the far side of the ridge from my present residence on the road leading to the Middle Mill a line running East & West & Marked some upwards of Twenty year past in the Woods pasture, this line to extend East & West as far as my land Extend-------- One other tract Lying on the North side of the Public road leading from Pee Dee River near Chatham by Geo. Quicks, Granted to myself, it contains 344 acres as is marked on the Gen'l Platof my Lands------ also the lot of land on Pee Dee River got from Malachi N. Bedgegood Dec'd, Also half the lot of land I own at the Rocky River Springs to Her & her heirs forever.----- I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Mary Caroline Robertson all the lands I pofsefs on Pee Dee River Purchased of John Burch & Tristram H. Thomas with the improvements thereon. One other tract know by Spring Hill with as much lands attached thereto, and at the death of my loving wife, all the lands lent to my loving wife (viz) lying on & below and East & West line specified to be the lower line of lands Given to my daughter Ann E. Elerbe below the Middle Mill to include all the lands I pofsefs situate between this mentioned line and land herein designated, Given to my daughter Ann E. Elerbe, the Spring Hill tract, this tract, Mill dwelling and many other buildings, D. Robertson. ############################################################################ ############################# (2nd.page - original will) are situate, being the place whereon I now live to her & her heirs forever. WILL OF DRURY ROBERTSON PAGE 3 But should providence so direct it that my loveing daughter Mary should before she should marry or should she die without leaving Lawful ifsue living, then in that case, the lands given her I will & desire shall be & is hereby made the property of my Loving daughter Ann E. Ellerbe to her & her heirs forever.------ The Lot at Landing on Pee Dee & the Lot at Springs (I wish to be Joint property of the family & not the Exclusive proper of my Daughter Anne.---------------- As respects the Negro Slaves belonging to my Estate after my loving wifes Portion is sett apart, I wish divided between my two daughters after setting apart as many as will be equal in value for Mary, as those hereto fore given to my daughter Anne.-those remaining to be divided between them share & share alike which I give & bequeath to them with their future increase to them & their heirs forever. But is my wish the whole should be worked together until Mary marry-----Should Mary die before she marry, I give & bequeath Mary's part to my daughter Anne, her heirs & etc, but if my loving is living I wish one half of nett profits of them shall be paid to my loving wife, during her life, at the death of my loving wife, I give & bequeath unto my two daughters all the Slaves lent to my wife with their increase & all other property lent her that may be remaining to them & their heirs forever.------- I give & bequeath to my daughter Mary the Stock of Horses Mules Cattle & Hogs at the River Plantation, also a Pianna Forte purchased for her, and a bay mare called Charlotte Temple & Woman's saddle, Any cattle or sheep more thana suitable number, or any other article of value that my Executrix & Executors think proper to dispose of, it is my will that they use their discretion in that respect. I give and bequeath unto my Grand son Wm. T. Elerbe my Watch chain & Seal to be delivered to him at the discretion of his Parents------------ Also I give and bequeath to my Grand son Alexander R. Elerbe WILL OF DRURY ROBERTSON PAGE 4 as much money as will be sufficient to Purchase a Watch Chain & Seal & of equal value to the one given to his Brother, to be delivered t him at the discretion of his Parents. Last.-I do hereby nominate my loving wife Executrix & my Son-in-Law Wm. F. Elerbe to be my Executor to this last Will & Testament Granting them full power & authority to do all things needful to carry my Intentions into effect And all things they may deem necefsary for the Benefit all concerned, D. Robertson. ############################################################################ ###################### (3rd.page -original Will) upon reflection, instead of lending Horses Mules Cattle Hogs sheep & etc, to my loving wife, I do hereby Give & bequeath to her & her heirs forever all the Horses & Mules after my Just debts are paid that are on the plantation at Mills, Fifty head of Cattle, fifty head of sheep & all the Hogs to be used at her will & pleasure also one Waggon & Gear & another Waggon if she require it all the plantation tools & etc, no mention had been made the Tools in Black shop then I wish to remain in the shop for the use of all the family.
