Reported present with company, 31 Oct 1864. Last recorded on clothing receipt roll, dated 25 Dec 1864. Post-war, farmer in Orangeburg Co., SC. d. 16 Sep 1896, and buried in Methodist Cemetery, Springfield, SC.

YOUMANS, James Jeremiah (1831?–1876): 17/C, 5/B–SGT, Beaufort Dist. Residence: Silver Hill, SC; occupation: farmer. Enlisted at Camp Gist, James Island, SC, 20 Mar 1862, age 31. Previously served in Smart's Co. (St. Peter's Guard), 1st (Martin's) SC Mounted Militia. Admitted to General Hospital No. 11, Charlotte, NC, with debility, 20 Feb 1865. Granted a furlough, 18 Apr 1865. Paroled at Augusta, GA, 31 May 1865. d. 5 Oct 1876, and buried in Goettee Cemetery, Hampton Co., SC. Brother of Joseph Albert and Washington M. YOUMANS.

YOUMANS, Joseph Albert (1845–1906): 5/B–PVT, Beaufort Dist. b. May 1845. Residence: St. Peter's Parish, Beaufort Dist., SC. Enlisted at Kenansville, SC, 15 Aug 1863, age 18. Paroled at Augusta, GA, 31 May 1865. Post-war, veterinary surgeon in Colleton Co., SC. d. 21 Jul 1906, Walterboro, SC. Brother of James Jeremiah and Washington M. YOUMANS.

Trans. to Co. F, 3d SC Cavalry, in exchange with James M. SANDIFORD, 1 Apr 1863. Surrendered at Hillsboro, NC, 27 Apr 1865. Post-war, farmer in Hampton Co., SC. Moved to FL in 1894. d. 8 Dec 1899, Hillsborough Co., FL. m. Mary Alice TERRY, 24 Mar 1870; she applied for a Confederate widow's pension at Port Tampa City, FL, 21 Jul 1914. Brother of James Jeremiah and Joseph Albert YOUMANS.
