Moved to Charleston, SC, in 1860, and enlisted there, 27 Feb 1862, age 26. Reported as CPL, 31 Dec 1862. Appt. SGT, 7 Jul 1863. Capt. at Trevilian Station, VA, 11 Jun 1864, and sent to Elmira, NY. Exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA, 29 Oct 1864. Left Charleston aft. 1875, and said to have moved to IA, and perhaps later to Europe. m. Carolyn Lucretia LOCKE abt. 1866.
