Located in the Sandhills region near Cassatt, Savage Bay is one of the few remaining undisturbed Carolina Bays, now protected from development. It is named in honor of naturalist Henry Savage. Unmarked trails lead you around the bay for observation.

How to Get There

• Take I-20 to exit #98 and go north on US #521 (Broad Street) 3.8 kilometers (2.4 miles). Turn right onto US #1 (DeKalb Street) and go northeast 13.3 km. (8.3 miles), then turn right onto secondary road #835 (Drakeford Road). Savage Bay is on the right.
