MOODY, Hugh (1808-1873)
Hugh Moody, the oldest son of Thomas and Elizabeth Smith Moody, was born 4 January 1808 in Marion County, South Carolina. Licensed to "Exhort" in September 1831 and to preach in the Methodist Church 27 July 1833. Ordained Deacon 13 May 1839. Served in the Civil War under Major J. M. Ward, Company D, 7th Battalion.
Married Elizabeth Turbeville 5 November 1828.
