Mrs. Emily McClenaghan, wife of Rev. Haration McClenaghan died of apoplexy on Dec. 23, 1883.

Solomon RICHARDSON died last Friday.

Colin LOWRIMORE died Friday of dropsy.

Mr. T. C. MOODY has married.

Married December 26, Mr. Robert WATSON and Miss Tebe WOLLING.

Married Dec. 30, Mr. Laurin BETHEA and Miss Hettie McLAURIN, of Laurinburg, NC.

Florence - Mr. Leonard PHILLIPS died here a few days ago.

Miss Martha McPHERSON, formerly of Charleston, died in Florence on Saturday last.

Wm. Pryor WHITE, nephew of Maj. J. B. WHITE of Marion, was killed in Texarkana, Tx. Leaves wife and 2 children.

February 5, 1884

Married January 23 at Conway, Mr. E. E. TART of Marion Co. and Miss Annie Lee PARKER of Conway.

Died near Nichols in Horry Co. on Jan. 27, Mrs. HAMILTON, mother of Dr. W. W. HAMILTON, at the age of 85.

Mr. Edward WEBSTER, age 83, died at the home of his son, Mr. Charles WEBSTER, in Williamsburg Co.

Mr. Jos. F. WEEKS of Sampson Co., NC died in Florence on Sunday.

February 12, 1884

Mr. Mitchell GODBOLD died last Wednesday.

February 19, 1884

Died Feb. 12, Nathan EVANS, aged 79, married twice. 1st - Miss Eliza BAKER in Dec. 1832 who died in 1848. 2nd - Miss Hariet BRADY. Survived by children from both marriages.

Died at Sepulga, AL on Feb. 2, Mrs. Amelia FINKLEA. Her parents moved from this county. Leaves husband and 4 children.

Rev. Hugh A. C. WALKER and Mrs. WALKER celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last week.

February 26, 1884

Cheraw, SC, Feb. 23 - Town Marshall RICHARDS - mortally wounded.

Married February 13, Mr. Festus BETHEA and Miss Sallie STACKHOUSE, daughter of Mr. Mastin STACKHOUSE.

Mr. H. W. BLAKE and Miss Ella PORTER, daughter of Rev. J. A. PORTER, were married at Richburg last Thursday.

Married in Hebron on Feb. 14, Mr. James LEWIS and Miss Celia SANDERS - all of Marlboro.

Died Feb. 19, Mrs. McNEILL, wife of Mr. W.M. McNEILL, and sister of Mr. Paul I. BOSTICK.

Died in Adamsville on Feb. 7, Mr. James USHER, aged 65.

March 4, 1884

[Presentment of the Grand Jury of Marlboro Co. - Feb. Term 1884] - "11. We present George WELCH for buying seed cotton at night from Evasmas WILLIAMS on or about the 20th of November 1883. Witnesses; Daniel GIBSON, Wm. HINSON, and Stephen CROSLAND."

Mr. W. H. H. RICHARDSON of Cheraw died 23rd of Feb. Leaves wife & 3 small children. Came to Cheraw in 1865.

Married Feb. 27, Mr. Jno. A. FORE to Miss Lossie A. GIBSON.

Samuel BERRY died last Tuesday, aged 70.

Mrs. Susan DEW died Feb. 20.

Mr. L. T. BRISTOW of Marion, married Miss BOUCHIER of Bennettsville last Weds.

Florence - Dr. Reese GREGG died Monday. Leaves widow and large family.

Martin E. BABB died at Laurens C.H. last Sunday.

Dr. George S. TREZEVANT of Columbia died last Monday, age 50.

April 1, 1884

Miss Pollie ROPER died last Weds. at age of 84, on her birthday.

April 8, 1884

Died March 23, James Robert, infant son of Mr. A. J. and Mrs. Julia A. GILES, aged 1 month and 25 days.

Mr. J. E. MYERS, son of Col. Geo. J. MYERS, died last Weds.

Died March 29, 1884, at Hazelhurst, GA, Mrs. Caroline Kirkwood St. CLAIR, wife of Col. J. W. St. CLAIR and youngest daughter of Rev. Dr. HONOUR of Marion; she was aged 44 years, 2 months and 7 days. Leaves husband and 7 children.

Mrs. COTTINGHAM, aged lady of Little Rock, recently died.

Died April 10 near Mineral Springs, SC, Mrs. Margarette HAYNE, wife of John HAYNE.

April 29, 1884

Died April 26, Col. John T. HARRINGTON, age 63.

Hon. Benjamin H. WARD died at Little River, Horry Co., March 4.

May 6, 1884

Married April 30, Mr. J. W. DAVIS and Miss Walker, eldest daughter of the late W. W. BRADDY, Esq.

Mr. Ithamer HAYES, aged citizen of Hillsboro Township died recently.

Baker FORE died Thursday at age of 24.

May 13, 1884

Mr. William J. WOODWARD, son of Mr. Michael WOODWARD, died April 30, at age of 57 years.

May 27, 1884

Peggy DONELLY, colored, died last week.

Rev. Louis SCARBOROUGH died near Mullins last Thursday.

Mrs. Louisa M. PAGE, widow of the late John S. P. PAGE, died at Fair Bluff, NC last Friday.

June 3, 1884

One of Mr. L. B. ROGERS’ baby twins has died.

F. I. SESSIONS, Sheriff of Horry Co. died in Conway last Saturday.

June 10, 1884 [or June 17, 1884]

Mr. W. M. McNEILL died last Weds. His wife died a few months ago. Leaves a

number of small children. [see Feb. 26, 1884 issue]

July 1, 1884

Mr. Archibald GASQUE died last Sunday at age of 76.

Mrs. HALE, mother of the late Samuel HALE and of Dr. HALE, has died at Brownsville on Sunday.

Mrs. John H. HAMER died Friday. Leaves husband and 5 children.

Miss Lucy ROGERS of Abbeville Co. married Mr. David FLOW of Mecklenburg Co., near Mt. Carmel last Thursday. Both are deaf mutes.

July 8, 1884

Mr. Elias B. FORD died June 23. He was the father of Capt. A. H. FORD, Dr.

C. F. FORD and Rufus FORD, plus a number of daughters. His youngest daughter, Miss Mattie FORD, died two days before her father.

Mrs. Harriet GASQUE, wife of Mr. Henry GASQUE, died July 3 at age 74. Married 53 years.

Died June 18th, infant child of W. E. and N. A. GASQUE, aged 3 months and 20 days. Mrs. A. M. MARTIN died June 17, at the age of 29.

July 15, 1884

Rev. Samuel J. HILL recently died. He was a member of Methodist Episcopal Church South.

Mr. Crawford LANE died on Friday.

July 22, 1884

Mr. W. J. DEVANE, stepson of Mr. A. M. GASQUE, died at Walthal Station, GA, last Tuesday.

Died on July 17, Mr. Wm. L. POWELL.

July 29, 1884

Mr. Charles W. MITCHELL died last Tuesday night. Buried at Georgetown.

Capt. John J. EVANS is dead.

August 5, 1884

Died last Sunday, Mr. Robert WISE.

Mrs. Eliza Loyd, wife of Mr. Thomas and youngest daughter of Mrs. Elsys, died last Friday. One of 11 children, survived by husband, aged mother and only one sister. [surnames are difficult to determine in this entry.]

August 12, 1884

Married July 26, Mr. Thos. L. COLLINS to Miss Henrietta WALLER. All of Marion.

Miss Laura GAULDEN married Mr. John C. BAILEY, July 31. Bride is daughter of Mr. John GAULDEN.
