Detailed as regimental adj. & brigade adj. at times. Surrendered Greensboro. Passed bar in 1866. Married Amanda Alford in 1868. Married Elvira Sherwood in 1871. Lawyer until 1868 when he went into merchandise business until 1881. County chairman of Hampton's campaign for governor. Also delegate to the Democratic national convention that year. Published the Merchant and Farmer until 1885 in Marion and for the last two years in Laurens. Returned to Marion and in 1887 was appointed master of equity. Elected judge of probate in 1888 & reelected at least 4 times. Member of county board of education and clerk for county board of commissioners. Alive in 1897.
